Krazy Kat, 1922
Cartoonist George Herriman’s popular cartoon Krazy Kat was the inspiration for a collaborative “Jazz Pantomime” which opened at New York’s Town Hall in January 1922. Composer John Alden Carpenter scored the show, and Herriman wrote the scenario and created the scenery and costumes. The published score included many drawings from the production. Krazy Kat was published in many American newspapers between 1913 and 1944.
