The photographs in this album show “Invest in Afghanistan,” an exposition held in Kabul in April 1972. The booths display textiles, soft drinks, pharmaceuticals, plastics, leather, and other products that were manufactured in Afghanistan at that time. Men and women are dressed in non-traditional styles of dress, as the country was opening up to the outside world. The letter on display, recently sent to Radio Azadi, lists the various industries that once employed people in Afghanistan but that no longer exist today. The letter stresses those industries could be revived with some assistance, since the people still have the skills to manufacture products.
