Age Restrictions
While the Library of Congress welcomes patrons of all ages, we reserve the right to notify the parent/teacher of anyone under the age of 13 who creates an account with myLOC.gov.
Parent/Teacher Approval
A parent/teacher of a registrant under the age of 13 will be notified of the minor’s attempt to create an account. The Library will send an e-mail to the parent/teacher’s and they will be given the option to cancel the account if they do not approve.
Password Requirements
Your password must be between 6 and 20 characters long. It cannot be the same as your user name or email.
Passport to Knowledge Barcode
If you visited the Library of Congress in Washington DC after December 2008, you may have picked up a
Passport to Knowledge from the orientation gallery. If you have a Passport, then you can enter the
barcode that is printed on the front or back covers as part of your registration. The barcode is of the format LC10-XX-XXXX. This will associate
any items you collected on site at the Library or your Knowledge Quest progress with your account.
You can, of course, collect items and play Knowledge Quest without a passport, which is optional,
if you would like to create a myLOC.gov account. Note - your Passport to Knowledge barcode is not your
Library of Congress Reader Registration card number.
